I’m a specialist environmental engineer with more than 17 years’ experience in environmental contracting and consultancy. I’ve been with NHBC for just over four years. My role is to support clients with the technical challenges associated with brownfield sites.

At the Land Quality Service, we work closely with our customers early in the development process to help ensure any proposed works are suitable and will meet our standards.

Recently, I was appointed Chair of the Yorkshire Contaminated Land Forum. I’ve attended many of the forum’s events since it was established in 2007, so it’s important for me to give something back to the contamination and land quality community. One of the forum’s key aims is to help improve land quality. This aligns closely with NHBC’s aim of raising standards and protecting homeowners. For me, the forum provides an opportunity for experts from across the industry to come together to discuss best practice and share knowledge in a friendly and open environment.

It also offers valuable networking opportunities for early career professionals. Ultimately, knowledge sharing is key. As an industry we can sometimes work in silos, so forums like this create opportunities for people to come together who might not otherwise have the chance.

I look forward to continuing the good work of the steering group and contributing to the networking events that the forum delivers.
