Most of my work is computer based in a combination of review of new sites registered to set initial conditions and then review of information as it comes in. As the site progresses there are update meetings with the customer project team online or in person and site visits as required.
I love the variety of sites and the customers I cover, mainly London and Northern Ireland at the moment. I have amazing colleagues who are both knowledgeable and supportive, which makes the work a pleasure. NHBC are an extremely supportive employer.
We have frequent CPD training opportunities and colleagues with years and years of experience, always happy to discuss an issue. This makes the work really enjoyable. I really enjoy knowing that my work is helping deliver safe, quality housing for people. It's incredibly important in my role as a Geo Environmental Engineer. You need to be able to absorb large quantities of technical information and identify any gaps or issues. It's also helpful to be confident in discussing technical issues with customers who may not be as fluent in the subject and to be able to explain the required information.
NHBC is a super supportive workplace with excellent benefits. I generally work from home but I never feel isolated. We have a very active Teams chat and it's easy to call a colleague to chat or for advice.
