Alex Notay:
The key changes that I hope are going to unlock housing delivery in the next few years are just the continuation of collaboration across the sector and the implementation of a lot of the planning reform that has been passed into legislation. We now need to turn that into action.
We've had lots of great policy thinking and refinement, but viability is still a significant challenge. The way we get through that is through partnership, collaboration and patient capital that understands housing is a great investment, but also something that is really critical for the country.
Housing is part of our national infrastructure and we need more of it. It's a tough time at the moment, but the collaboration across the sector and the determination to deliver and push through those challenges will, I hope, lead to the housing delivery we need.
I'm excited about the future of housing. At The Housing Forum, our motto is 'a quality home for all'. The opportunity to do something that is really tangible and that genuinely matters is incredibly important.
There are 175,000 children in this country living in temporary accommodation. That number has increased from 165,000 just nine months ago. The opportunity to be part of a sector that is helping to solve that problem and create safe, secure, warm and affordable homes for everyone is a real privilege.
Whether it's a rental home, a home for purchase, a new-build development or a retrofit project, being part of that challenge and that opportunity is something I find really exciting.
