What is Buildmark Choice?

Buildmark Choice is specially designed to protect landlords of newly built or newly converted homes which are built to be rented out or for shared ownership in the private, affordable or social housing sectors

Overview of Buildmark Choice cover

Flexible Cover
We work on high value schemes, offering defects insurance and warranty based on your client's project requirements.
Warranty and insurance cover for continuous structures based on your project's requirements
10 or 12 years Latent Defects Insurance, with the option of up to two year builder liability period, depending on your client's requirements.

Policy also includes

  • Cover for loss of rental income, or alternative accommodation for tenants
  • Cover for removal and storage of tenants' possessions in the event of a valid claim
  • Cover for necessary costs of demolition or dismantling, site clearance and removal of debris, and shoring up of the homes in the event of a valid claim
  • A Minimum Claim Value (MCV) meaning we don’t require policyholders to pay the first part of any claim. Instead, if the cost of a valid claim exceeds the MCV, we will do the work or pay the cost in full and the policyholder will not have to make any contribution. The starting MCV for plots registered from 1 April 2019 is £1,750 (increasing by £50 on 1 April in each subsequent year).
  • Cover against contaminated land

The above applies to policies for plots registered with us from 1 October 2019. Please see the full Buildmark Choice policy document below for all the conditions and exclusions that apply. Homes registered prior to 1 October 2019 may benefit from insurance protection for certain breaches of Building Regulations if NHBC Building Control Services Limited is appointed for and carries out building control for the property. If we have provided this cover, it will be clearly shown on the Buildmark Choice insurance certificate, and a description of the cover included in the policy booklet. Please refer to your own policy documents for all the terms and conditions that apply to your home.
