Spotlight on NHBC's NVQ opportunities

After a turbulent 12 months for everyone, NHBC had something to shout about at the turn of the year, having welcomed more than 5,000 candidates through its NVQ training programmes, 20 years since they were first introduced.
Over recent years NHBC’s NVQ offering has been specially tailored to provide a greater focus on key house-building areas, at Levels 3 to 7, mainly around Construction Site Management.
A construction NVQ is a benchmark qualification that proves occupational competence to employers. Some NVQs, which can also be the equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree, lead to membership of professional organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).
Nigel Kildunne, Learning & Development Manager at Avant Homes, explained why the company decided to sign up to help provide their Level 4 NVQ training to newly recruited Trainee Assistant Site Managers.
“We have been using NHBC’s training team for the last two years and we are about to sign up for another round,” he said.
“We are taking part in the Trainee Assistant Site Manager NVQ training and so far the virtual lessons and uploading of evidence via the portal has gone seamlessly.
“We did look at all the options as there are so many platforms and organisations offering what we need, but we have been so impressed with NHBC’s offering it was an easy choice. They have the track record, recognition and history so the people we work with know that we are using the best option.
“The assessors have been extremely helpful and have gone above and beyond, out of the usual hours to help our team – we would thoroughly recommend.”
