Alan Rubenstein appointed as new NHBC Chair

NHBC, the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK, has today announced the appointment of Alan Rubenstein as its new Chair from 1 June 2020.

Alan, who is currently serving on NHBC’s Board as a Non-Executive Director, has over thirty years’ experience in pensions, insurance, asset management and investment banking. He was Chief Executive of the Pension Protection Fund between 2009 and 2018, protecting the pension entitlements of approximately 11 million members of Defined Benefit Schemes in the UK. Alan is also a Non-Executive Director at esure Group plc and Chair of the Investment Sub-committee for the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme.

NHBC bids farewell to Isabel Hudson who is stepping down as Chair after serving three full terms in office since 2011.

Commenting on his appointment, Alan Rubenstein, said: “NHBC is a truly unique organisation and I am delighted to be appointed as Chair. I am taking the reins at an extraordinary time but have already been impressed with the professionalism and commitment of our staff as we cope with the constraints and uncertainties that Covid-19 has brought.  NHBC has always been focused on new home quality and this will continue as we work with the industry to tackle the challenges ahead.
